Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a Senior Director of Global Design & Engineering to shape the company’s global approach to data center design and engineering. Reporting to the Chief Delivery Officer, the role leads the Design & Engineering function across the portfolio.

The successful candidate will build and mentor a dispersed team, develop world-class standards, drive continuous improvement, and partner with Development, Construction, Procurement, Operations, PMO, EH&S, and Land & Power

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive experience within data center design, engineering and development.
• Advanced understanding of data center design, construction, industry trends and DFMA.
• Strong executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the global Design & Engineering function.
• Build, manage and mentor high-performing Design Managers and Engineering Discipline Leads.
• Drive the development and evolution of global OPR, BOD and design standards.
• Partner with senior leadership across Development, Construction, Procurement, Operations and other key functions.
• Provide Design & Engineering guidance to Risk Management, Finance and Legal teams.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, engineering firms, contractors, equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
• Remain at the forefront of emerging data center technologies and industry trends.
• Drive continuous improvement across design and engineering processes.
• Support the development of design strategies that meet both current and future client requirements.

We are partnering with a newly launched global data center developer that is building out its leadership team as it establishes and scales its international development platform.

As part of this growth, the business is looking to appoint a Senior Director of Global Design & Engineering to take a leading role in shaping its global approach to data center design and engineering.

Reporting directly to the Chief Delivery Officer, this individual will be responsible for building and leading the Design & Engineering function, developing world-class design standards and processes, and creating a consistent approach to engineering across the company’s global portfolio.

The role will lead a team of Design Managers and Engineering Discipline Leads and work closely with Development, Construction, Procurement, Operations, PMO, EH&S, and Land & Power.

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong understanding of continuous improvement principles and practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions.
• Willingness to travel as required.
