Description du poste

Discipline: Electrical / Mechanical / Architectural

Location: Remote, USA

Travel: Up to 50% as required, predominantly across the US East Coast

About the Opportunity

We are working with a growing data centre developer looking to strengthen its design and engineering leadership team across the Electrical, Mechanical and Architectural disciplines.

This is a remote-based opportunity within the US, with travel required to project sites and key stakeholder meetings as projects progress. Travel is expected to be up to 50% when required, predominantly across the East Coast of the United States.

We are open to candidates at Lead, Senior or Director level, depending on experience and capability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data centre design, combined with a proactive, hands‑on approach and the ability to operate effectively on the developer/owner side. We are particularly interested in individuals who are natural problem‑solvers, take ownership and are comfortable driving projects forward rather than simply responding to direction.

The Role

As a senior member of the development and design team, you will provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of large‑scale data centre projects.

Depending on your discipline and experience, you may take ownership of electrical, mechanical or architectural design, while working closely with internal development teams, external consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.

The position offers the opportunity to have a meaningful influence over projects from early design and concept development through detailed design, construction and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership across data centre design and development projects.
  • Lead and coordinate the relevant electrical, mechanical or architectural discipline.
  • Review and challenge designs to ensure they meet project requirements, technical standards, programme and commercial objectives.
  • Work closely with external MEP, architectural, structural and specialist engineering consultants.
  • Coordinate design activities across multiple disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of design standards, specifications and technical requirements.
  • Review drawings, calculations, specifications and technical submissions.
  • Identify design risks, technical issues and opportunities for optimisation at an early stage.
  • Support project teams through design development, permitting, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Provide technical input into consultant selection, scope development and design reviews.
  • Work closely with construction and development teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable and aligned with project objectives.
  • Attend project and stakeholder meetings, with travel to sites primarily across the US East Coast.
  • Help establish best practices and continuously improve the developer's design and engineering processes.
  • Take ownership of technical issues and proactively drive them through to resolution.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a go‑getter with a strong data centre design background who is comfortable taking ownership and operating with a high degree of autonomy.

  • 5+ years' experience in data centre design, engineering or technical delivery.
  • Strong experience within either:
  • Electrical engineering/design
  • Mechanical / MEP engineering/design
  • Architectural design, preferably within mission‑critical or data centre environments.
  • Experience working on large-scale or hyperscale data centre projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Experience working with engineering/design consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong technical problem‑solving ability.
  • Proactive, commercially aware and willing to take ownership.
  • Comfortable working remotely while maintaining strong communication with project teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% when required, predominantly across the US East Coast.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced development environment.
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence, particularly for Electrical or Mechanical candidates.
  • Experience with hyperscale data centres or large campus developments.
  • Experience with high-density / AI / HPC environments.
  • Experience working on projects involving significant power capacity and complex MEP systems.
  • Experience on the owner/developer side or working closely with developers.
  • Experience managing external engineering and design consultants.
  • Experience taking projects from concept/design through construction.
  • Professional registration or equivalent qualification for Architectural candidates.
Ideal Backgrounds

We are open to candidates coming from a variety of environments, including:

  • Mission‑critical engineering consultancies
  • Architecture and engineering practices
  • General contractors / design‑build organisations
  • Engineering consultancies working extensively within hyperscale data centres

Candidates with extensive MEP design engineering experience are particularly encouraged to apply, especially those holding a PE licence and with experience across large‑scale mission‑critical facilities.

What We're Looking For

Beyond technical credentials, the key differentiator will be attitude.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership
  • Is proactive rather than reactive
  • Is comfortable challenging designs and asking the right questions
  • Can identify problems before they become project issues
  • Enjoys working in a fast‑moving development environment
  • Can operate independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams
  • Wants to have a genuine impact on the growth and delivery of a data centre platform

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply producing designs and instead play a meaningful technical leadership role within a growing data centre developer.

Competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience and seniority, including:
  • Annual bonus
  • 401(k)
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Remote working flexibility
  • Travel expenses covered
Location & Travel

The position is 100% remote within the United States.

Travel will be required when project and business needs dictate, expected to be up to approximately 50%, with the majority of travel focused on US East Coast project locations.

The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable travelling to project sites, consultant meetings and other key stakeholder locations as required.
