Job summary

Walgreens Co. is seeking a senior strategy and portfolio leader to drive major initiatives across the organization from concept through execution. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, develop governance structures, and work with finance and operations to align benefits with forecasts.

The role requires extensive experience in strategy programs, portfolio planning and large-scale transformation in retail, with a track record of delivering measurable value. Travel up to 5% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in progressively more responsible strategy development and execution, project management, business development, consulting, or financial roles OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of experience in progressively more responsible strategy development and execution, project management, business development, consulting, or financial roles.
• Experience directing strategy programs/ agenda within a corporation or management consulting firm.
• Experience in portfolio or corporate planning type functions.
• Experience of the full cycle of project management from concept, planning and launch through to project communications, governance, reporting and sustainability including planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
• Experience with large-scale and complex transformation change efforts in retail organizations.
• At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership.
• Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Responsibilities

• Leads the delivery of strategic business initiatives by coordinating teams that will define, manage and deliver results from significant programs.
• Implements Walgreens strategic vision through tactics, collaboration and leadership and works with all functional areas to set priorities and guide complex work efforts.
• Establishes and drives a company-wide portfolio management process to ensure consistency for prioritizing, monitoring and decision-making of corporate-wide initiatives.
• Assists leadership with accountability for results and defines metrics for prioritizing programs with most potential for value generation.
• Provides analysis and guidance regarding transformation-related decisions to executive leadership.
• Works with finance and operations to integrate program benefits into forecasts.
• Sets up governance forums to drive project objectives and mobilize teams.
• Oversees portfolio management process design and tools within PMO to support the organization and drive cost savings.
