Senior Director, Engineering - Ad Serving and Optimization

As the Senior Director of Engineering – Ad Serving and Optimization, you’ll help shape the future of Best Buy’s Retail Media Network (RMN) platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead in ad tech, combining your engineering expertise with a passion for innovation. Reporting to the VP of Media and Marketing Technology, you'll build and grow a high-performing, full-stack engineering team and develop ad serving systems, yield optimization algorithms, and robust data infrastructure. You’ll bring deep experience in high-scale ad serving, data platforms, campaign optimization and cloud engineering.

This role is remote eligible, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.

What you’ll do

• Lead the development of three major components of the platform: ad serving, algorithms for optimization and data foundations
• Assemble teams for each of the three major components
• Build your teams’ expertise in ad-tech so they can understand the ecosystem and effectively design solutions
• Hire, attract and retain top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, transparent and collaboration
• 10 years of experience developing ad tech software
• 10 years of experience with high quality, always on, cloud ready, highly scalable and resilient systems for ad tech such as ad serving
• 8 years of experience leading teams

Preferred qualifications

• Experience leading the development of ad serving and optimization systems at scale at a DSP or SSP
• Ability to guide teams from project delivery to agile practices and then transform to a product led operating model
• Ability to assess skills needed on the team and address them through hiring and training
• Ability to enable collaboration between engineers, product managers, decision scientists and leaders
• Excellent communication skills when working with a distributed team
• Ability to and delegate work and encourage growth for your team
