Job summary

The University of Chicago seeks a Senior Director of the Energy Technologies Initiative (ETI) to lead strategic direction, partnerships, and program execution. You will own ETI's portfolio, engage senior stakeholders, and coordinate with PME, IC SG, and external partners to advance energy transition efforts.

You will build teams, shape communications, and guide flagship events. This hybrid role requires exceptional leadership and energy sector insight.

Qualifications

• Education: a college or university degree in a related field.
• Work experience: at least 7 years in a related job discipline with program management or energy innovation.
• Certifications: ---
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in energy, engineering, environmental science, public policy, or closely related discipline.
• Experience: leadership and cross-functional initiative management.

Responsibilities

• Define ETI's long-term vision, set priorities, and drive enterprise-wide alignment across PME, ICTG and external stakeholders.
• Integrate ETI initiatives within PME, CST, and Corporate Engagement Office strategic goals.
• Own end-to-end strategy, execution, and impact evaluation for ETI's initiatives, partnerships, and events.
• Lead multi-year strategic plans for ETI and manage program budgets.
• Build and develop a high-performing ETI team and establish a culture of accountability and collaboration.
• Represent ETI as a senior institutional voice at University leadership, national forums, and industry events.
• Cultivate relationships with senior leaders across University offices, industry, and energy ecosystem.
• Translate market trends in energy tech into actionable program opportunities for ETI/ETN.
• Support proposal development and fundraising to sustain growth of ETI.
• Negotiate ETN partnerships with the Corporate Engagement Office and ensure value alignment.
