Knorr Bremse Group's Signaling division in Irving, TX is seeking a Director of Train Dynamic Systems (TDS) with full P&L ownership over the LEADER product line, overseeing customer projects, internal development, and strategic planning. Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the TDS project portfolio, ensuring successful execution and alignment with business, financial, and customer objectives.
• Responsible for the execution, delivery, and quality of engineering activities for both customer projects and internal product development initiatives.
• Accountable for the financial performance of TDS (revenue, EBIT, margin, CapEx, Return on Sales).
• Lead business development activities including market analysis, customer management, commercial strategy, product road mapping, business opportunity cultivation, and STRAP planning.
• Responsible for leading the strategy, estimation activities, and negotiations for new project opportunities.
• Drive innovation to increase productivity, reduce costs, and create growth paths.
• Ensure resource planning and capability development aligned with commitments and long-term growth.
• Directly manage the TDS Management Team, total size 40+ engineers and managers.
• Ensure adherence to processes/policies and industry standards.

Job Summary

The Director of Train Dynamic Systems (TDS) has full P&L ownership over the LEADER product line. This includes ownership of customer-facing projects, internal product development, business development, engineering execution, and accountability of overall business performance (revenue, profitability, and strategic planning).

Reporting Line

Reports to directly to the Knorr Bremse Signaling Managing Director

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and accountability for the TDS project portfolio, ensuring successful execution of customer-facing projects and alignment with business, financial, and customer objectives.
• Responsible for the execution, delivery, and quality of engineering activities for both customer projects and internal product development initiatives.
• Accountable for the financial performance of TDS (revenue, EBIT, margin, CapEx, Return on Sales, etc).
• Lead business development activities including market analysis, customer management, commercial strategy, product road mapping, business opportunity cultivation, and development of strategic planning (STRAP).
• Responsible for leading the strategy, estimation activities, and negotiations for new project commercial opportunities.
• Drive innovation across the organization to increase productivity, reduce costs, and create new growth paths.
• Ensure resource planning and capability development are aligned with customer commitments, strategic business objectives, and long-term growth plans.
• Directly manage the TDS Management Team, with a total TDS team size of 40+ engineers, managers, and project resources.
• Ensure adherence to company processes/policies and applicable industry standards.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in Engineering or Project Management domains
• 7+ years of experience in leadership roles of increasing responsibility
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required. Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline preferred.
• Provenexperience managing large multi-disciplinary engineering or project management organizations

Other Skills & Competencies

• Proven ability to lead, influence, and align large cross-functional engineering and/or project management teams.
• Demonstrated ability to drive project and/or engineering organizations to meet financial targets. Demonstrated history of P&L ownership is preferred.
• Experience building and executing commercial strategy and product roadmaps.
• Ability to interact effectively with Sr Leadership and Executive-level Management
• Open-minded, proactive, motivated, and results driven.
• Very strong communication and presentation skills.
• PMP or PE certification encouraged.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Irving is $160,500 to $298,100 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education.
