Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an accomplished senior technology leader to guide a large software and data engineering organization. You will shape reference architectures, drive platform capabilities, and mentor senior engineers across multiple teams.

This role blends hands‑on pilots with strategic leadership to scale enterprise data and AI initiatives. You will partner with Product, Data, Security, and Infrastructure leaders to align delivery with business goals, ensuring reliability,

Qualifications

15+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, distributed systems, platform engineering, or related technical disciplines.
10+ years building and operating production software and data platforms at scale.
10+ years programming in Python, Java, Go, SQL or similar languages.
10+ years driving technology adoption and modernization with cross-functional leaders.
7+ years designing and operating modern data platforms and cloud‑native data infrastructures.
7+ years in senior leadership roles leading large, multi‑team engineering orgs.
5+ years building and operating cloud‑native solutions (AWS/Azure/GCP).
3+ years designing or scaling AI‑powered systems (RAG, LLM, embeddings).
Experience guiding organizational change and establishing enterprise engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a large engineering and data organization across multiple teams and geographies.
Define and implement reference architectures, platform capabilities, and engineering standards.
Pilot and prove architectural decisions with hands‑on work before scaling in production.
Partner with Product, Data, AI/ML, Security, and Infrastructure leaders to align roadmaps with business goals.
Build high‑throughput, cloud‑native infrastructure and data pipelines for enterprise workloads.
Drive adoption of modern data platforms and governance across teams.
Influence executives and drive measurable business outcomes through technical leadership.
