Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Director of Cybersecurity to own company-wide information security and privacy strategy. You will lead a lean, technical organization spanning product, application, and corporate security, focusing on the highest risks and scaling the security program with engineering teams.

You will evolve the security capabilities, build governance, and communicate risk to leadership while delivering practical controls that enable rapid, secure growth.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a technical, fast‑paced org.
• Software engineering foundation with production systems experience.
• Deep security expertise across apps, infra, data and hardware.
• Experience securing safety‑critical or cyber‑physical systems.
• Proven leadership in security incident response against sophisticated threats.
• Judgment balancing security, privacy, safety, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Set security strategy, risk posture, roadmap across product, infra, data, and physical systems.
• Identify top risks and drive remediation with Engineering, IT, Legal, Safety, Operations.
• Lead security engineering teams delivering secure platforms and tooling.
• Define and communicate company‑wide security strategy to leadership and partners.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing security team with clear expectations.
• Establish security architecture for identity, access, secrets, data protection, cloud, embedded systems.
• Lead threat modeling, testing, vulnerability management, incident response, and security reviews.
