Job summary

ELCA Mission Investment Fund seeks a Senior Director of Core Systems and Applications to lead core banking platforms and business apps. The role includes defining the tech roadmap, coordinating with ELCA IT, and ensuring stable, secure, and scalable solutions for MIF and ELCA FCU.

The role requires 8–10+ years in technology leadership, strong vendor and budget management, and collaboration with operations, lending, and compliance. Hybrid Chicago-based; in-office 2–3 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience directing technology teams in financial services or similar regulated environments.
• Proven ability to stabilize, integrate, and right-size complex systems.
• Experience in vendor and contract management with service-level governance.
• Strong understanding of data security, IAM, and access controls.
• Track record delivering lean, fit-for-purpose operating models.
• Cross-functional collaboration with operations, lending, and compliance.
• Ability to align technology strategy with organizational mission and risk posture.
• Willingness to provide after-hours support for critical systems as needed.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations and audit readiness.
• Experience working with ELCA or similar church-affiliated entities is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation, support, and roadmap for core banking platforms and apps (DNA, CU*BASE, Salesforce).
• Define and execute platform and architecture decisions to move the technology forward.
• Oversee data integrations, money-movement controls, and auditability.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, budgets, and sourcing aligned to organization size.
• Lead the applications team and coordinate with ELCA IT and shared services.
• Ensure security, access controls, and regulatory compliance across systems.
