The Assistant Director of Community Engagement at the American Chemical Society will lead the Community Development & Engagement and Data Analytics efforts, shaping programs that grow member engagement, retention, and lifetime value. This Washington, DC-based role collaborates across Membership & Strategic Engagement, Marketing, Education, Meetings, and other ACS units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree required in business, marketing, communications, association management, chemistry or related field.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• Minimum 10 years in community engagement, customer success, association management, or related fields with leadership experience.
• Experience leading teams, managing budgets, and implementing strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of customer lifecycle management and retention principles.
• Experience using CRM platforms and analytics/reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Community Development & Engagement, with cross-unit collaboration across ACS business units.
• Develop engagement journeys and scalable models for diverse member segments.
• Lead budget development, staff leadership, and performance management.
• Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure growth, retention, and ROI.
• Represent ACS to volunteers, partners, and external stakeholders.
