Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) seeks a Senior Manager, Communications & External Affairs to lead editorial strategy, media relations, and stakeholder engagement. You will supervise the Communications Team and guide external messaging, reporting to the CEO, with travel 15-20% within the Great Lakes region.

The role demands exceptional writing, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities across digital and public engagement platforms.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, journalism, marketing, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or nonprofit/public sector relations, including supervising staff.
• Demonstrated experience in media relations and messaging to multiple stakeholder groups.
• Experience presenting scientific data or environmental information to public sector entities within the Great Lakes region.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development and implementation of an annual communications strategy aligned with GLOS’s strategic plan.
• Supervise team members to develop press releases, news stories, and human-interest features.
• Monitor news cycles and identify proactive communication opportunities across priority areas.
• Maintain annual editorial calendar and brand standards across web, social, and print materials.
