Job summary

Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a nonprofit providing safety, shelter and advocacy for women and children. The Senior Director of Communications will steer external marketing, earned media, and social/digital content to raise brand awareness and support fundraising goals.

The role supervises the design and communications team, manages website and campaigns, and works with reporters to elevate the agency’s story during current events and ongoing programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
• 3+ years of communications or public relations experience required.
• Ability to write for media and demonstrate AP style proficiency.
• Experience managing multiple social platforms and media inquiries.
• Proficient with donor software and digital marketing tools.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee external communications, marketing, and branding initiatives.
• Coordinate media relations, press releases, and media alerts.
• Lead website management and social media strategy.
• Develop content for newsletters, blogs, and promotional materials.
• Collaborate with PR partners for proactive media outreach.
• Prepare backgrounders and coordinate CEO interviews when needed.
• Analyze metrics from social, email, and website campaigns.
• Plan integrated marketing campaigns and fundraising efforts.
