Role Summary

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with clinical trial teams, CROs and clinical sites regarding all legal aspects of clinical studies in the U.S. and abroad. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, R&D Attorney, you will play a key role in preparing and negotiating global clinical trial agreements, partnering with external counsel as needed depending on the region.

We are looking for an experienced biotech industry clinical contracts attorney with expertise in all legal aspects of the operation of clinical trials. Ideal candidates will be able to independently manage workflows and projects and effectively coordinate efforts with other legal team members. Additionally, applicants should have a passion for partnering with internal teams dedicated to the advancement of science and innovation in drug development and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providelegal contract support for US and global clinical development
  • Lead negotiations, draft and finalize agreements for all phases of clinical development including clinical trial agreements, informed consent forms, contract research organization agreements and other trial-related agreements in an effective, efficient and time-sensitive manner
  • Serve as legal representative in clinical trial team meetings, providing input and advice where needed
  • Provide guidance and support to third party vendors on clinical trial site negotiations
  • Manage legal professional(s) assisting with clinical contract review and to ensure consistent legal advice on development issues including healthcare fraud and abuse, pharmacovigilance, product liability, antitrust, privacy and other matters relevant to the development of innovative investigational agents and any supporting assays or devices
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a solid legal and compliance team through participation in discussions, sharing best practices and collaboration on projects
  • Foster strong and collaborative relationships with legal and non-legal colleagues who contribute to the company’s drug discovery and development efforts
  • Actively seek to identify ways to improve processes, procedures and tools to enhance efficiencies in the clinical contracting process
  • Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the company’s business, code of responsibility, its people, products, markets, facilities, customers and competitors and utilizes that knowledge in providing guidance and counsel to internal clients
  • Contribute to cultivating a company culture that reflects a strong commitment to ethics and patients and Apogee’s core values of caring, originality, resiliency and egoless

Ideal Candidate

  • 7+ years of industry experience in a healthcare or life sciences company
  • Mature and professional demeanor with a high degree of self-motivation and high level of business acumen
  • Experienced in drafting, negotiating complex legal documents in the pharmaceutical industry; ex-US experience preferred but not required
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%

The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $270,000-$305,000. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
