Job Description

The Senior Director, CEO Engagement - Small/Midsize Y leader is responsible for supporting, engaging, and communicating with local CEOs and their assigned affiliate networks. As a representative of the national office, this position provides strategic support to ensure alignment and partnership across the Service Delivery Continuum. Alignment with YUSA's vision, philosophy, and positioning is crucial for success. Building strong relationships with local CEOs is key and requires frequent in-person visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; related post-graduate work or an advanced degree is preferred
  • Organizational Leader certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of executive leadership experience in the YMCA or similar mission-based organization; CEO or C-Suite experience is strongly preferred in SMY Y Affiliate group
  • Experience cultivating partnerships within complex organizational structures
  • Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, planning, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience operating in a complex environment requiring continuous improvement and adherence to best practices
  • Advanced coaching, communication, and facilitation skills, comfortable in electronic communication environments
  • Knowledge of shared services, partnerships, and strategies to strengthen YMCAs
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders
  • Proactive in ambiguous, dynamic, entrepreneurial settings
  • Commitment to Y-USA's mission and strategy

Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic support and solutions to Ys, enhancing trust and relationships with CEOs and YUSA
  • Offer consulting on financial, operational assessments, executive transitions, collaborations, shared services, mergers, strategy, and planning
  • Coordinate with affiliate networks to align on goals and priorities
  • Enhance communication across the Y network, focusing on CEO and C-Suite engagement
  • Support CEO needs through Executive Learning Series and other programs
  • Travel up to 40% of the time, especially in the first 3-6 months
  • Serve as a convener on specialized topics and emerging trends
  • Build trust and provide customized solutions for CEOs
  • Establish partnerships across networks and departments to meet strategic goals
  • Advocate for Y-USA and affiliate networks
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Impact on Results

This role ensures effective resource coordination and engagement with local Ys and CEOs, enhancing credibility, trust, and network strength. A collaborative approach will meet immediate needs and support strategic growth, ensuring the sustainability of local Ys.
