Job summary

The City of Alexandria invites applications for the Assistant Director- Center for Adult Services within the Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS). The role leads the Center for Adult Services and serves as Executive Director of the Alexandria Community Services Board, overseeing aging and adult services, clinical and emergency services, and community support.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in psychology, social work, social sciences or related subjects.
• Five years of progressive management experience administering a medium-large behavioral health, social or human services division, program or agency; grant-writing, management, program evaluation, accreditation and best practice service models.
• Master's or doctorate degree in psychiatry, psychology, social work, public administration or related field; professional clinical license; ten or more years of progressively responsible experience; experience with racial and social equity practices.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs the activities and functions of the Center for Adult Services.
• Serves as Executive Director of the Community Services Board (CSB) and implements mandates from DBHDS.
• Develops and manages budgets and oversees spending.
• Leads strategic planning, oversight, and continuous improvement of programs.
• Provides strategic leadership as part of the Department's Leadership Team.
• Leads center policy and procedures.
• Supervises Division Directors and coordinates with City stakeholders.
• Represents the Department on committees and workgroups.
• Provides data on program effectiveness and studies systems for improvements.
• Coordinates work within the Center and with other City agencies.
• Prepares docket memos and presents to City Council and residents.
