Senior Director, Business Strategy - Supplier Excellence

Position Summary

Supplier Excellence is a data-driven, results-oriented organization focused on supporting Merchandising, partnering with senior leaders, and the broader Walmart organization to develop strategies, ways of working, and solutions that enable Walmart to be the supplier’s favorite retailer. We strive for best-in-class supplier collaboration by delivering shared value with a customer-centered approach.

The Senior Director will be responsible for suppliers’ communication, strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and events, requiring collaboration across stakeholders including Walmart Connect, EBS, Data Ventures, Marketplace, Finance, and Supply Chain to drive one Walmart voice. This role also involves leading a team to create strategic clarity, engage team members, and drive project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop strategy and execution plans for key supplier initiatives aligned with Merchandising leadership.
• Increase visibility of supplier strategic initiatives and support prioritization and tradeoff decisions with cross-functional partners.
• Collaborate with business partners to drive strategy execution, monitor KPIs, manage cross-functional teams, and remove barriers.
• Partner with Merchandising to develop business cases for strategic focus areas.
• Support long-term strategic planning and annual operating plans across Merchandising.
• Prepare content for high-profile supplier meetings with executives.
• Cultivate an environment of integrity and ethics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area, or 9+ years with relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on cross-functional teams or projects.
• Advanced degrees (Masters) in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Supply Chain, or Transportation.

Additional Information

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000 - $260,000, with additional compensation such as performance bonuses and stock options. Benefits include health plans, 401(k), stock purchase plan, paid leave, and Walmart’s education benefit program.
