The Senior Director, Business Development has a background in life sciences and plays a crucial role in driving NJ Bio’s growth and profitability. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources leading sales and business development activities in Translational Research Services. The Senior Director, Business Development will build and manage the new business pipeline, develop strategic client relationships, lead customer site visits, and partner with scientific and site leadership to establish a scalable commercial business. A central mandate of the role is driving the value proposition of Translational Research Services integrated with the core ADC discovery competency of NJ Bio.The successful candidate will translate scientific capabilities into clear customer value, help develop marketing assets and commercial technology, and create a cohesive customer journey that supports programs across multiple stages of discovery and development.The Senior Director, Business Development ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.Business Development, Pipeline Management, Sales GrowthPartner with commercial and site leadership to define target client profiles, strategic business development priorities, and account acquisition strategies for Translational Services.Build and maintain relationships through all stages of the commercial pipeline, from target identification and initial outreach through proposal development, agreement finalization, project initiation, and account expansion.Identify prospective biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and emerging biopharma partners whose development programs align with NJ Bio's scientific capabilities.Develop and execute account-mapping and outreach strategies through conferences, industry networks, on-site meetings, virtual meetings, and targeted business development campaigns.Support expansion of existing NJ Bio relationships by identifying opportunities to extend discovery programs into parallel translational services business.Maintain disciplined pipeline management, opportunity prioritization, forecasting, and commercial reporting.Partner cross-functionally to create efficient transitions from business development through technical scoping, proposal generation, contracting, and project execution.Achieve sales goals for revenue growth and pipeline value.Discovery-to-Translational Research Services Value PropositionDrive high-value, collaborative opportunities coordinated between NJ Bio's chemistry driven discovery services and translational research services.Identify scientific and commercial transition points where complementary services can create additional value for clients and improve program continuity.Work with scientific leadership to develop integrated solutions that address customer needs across multiple stages of biologic discovery and development.Create processes for cross-site and cross-functional opportunity sharing, ensuring that relevant customer programs are identified early and transitioned effectively.Position NJ Bio as an integrated scientific partnerCommercialization, Marketing Assets, and TechnologyPartner with scientific, marketing, and site teams to translate technical capabilities into differentiated commercial value propositions.Lead or support development of capability presentations, service overviews, case studies, application notes, scientific content, website messaging, and other customer-facing marketing assets.Help establish commercial tools and technology that improve lead generation, account targeting, customer engagement, pipeline visibility, and commercial decision-makingCapture voice-of-customer and market feedback to refine positioning, identify emerging service opportunities, and inform future capability investments.Support development of campaigns and content that build awareness of NJ Bio's Translational Services capabilities within target biopharmaceutical markets.Client Site Visits and Commercial RepresentationOrganize and lead on-site visits for prospective and current clients, serving as a senior commercial representative for the Translational Services site.Design customer visits that connect NJ Bio's scientific expertise, infrastructure, technology, and capabilities to the client's development objectives.Coordinate scientific and operational stakeholders to ensure client presentations and site tours communicate a cohesive, differentiated value proposition.Lead strategic customer presentations, technical-commercial discussions, and support proposal reviews.Represent NJ Bio at relevant scientific and corporate conferences, partnering meetings, networking events, and industry forums.Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Demonstrated ability to sell complex, scientifically driven services and develop long-term relationships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients.Strong understanding of biologic drug discovery and development; experience in antibody discovery, translational research, translational oncology, pharmacology, biomarker development, or related services is highly desirable.Experience helping launch, reposition, or commercially scale a scientific service offering.Ability to translate complex scientific capabilities into clear customer value propositions and commercially compelling messaging.Experience collaborating with scientific and marketing teams to develop customer-facing content, presentations, and commercial assets.Experience with CRM and commercial technology platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable systems.Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and executive presentation skills.Demonstrated organization, commercial judgment, diplomacy, and ability to build collaborative, trusting cross-functional relationships.Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment where commercial processes, market positioning, and service offerings continue to evolve.Able to travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, conferences, and strategic account development.Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating contracts and business deals.Ability to influence without direct authority.Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with site personnel, clients, customers, and prospects.Ability to perform work with high level accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.Proficiency with Microsoft OfficeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a team environment consisting of internal and external team membersAnalytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.Education and Experience Requriements:Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, or a related field required; advanced scientific or business degree (PhD, MS, or MBA) preferred.10+ years of biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or life-science services experience, including significant experience in business development, commercial strategy, strategic accounts, or an equivalent customer-facing role.Physical Demands:N/AWorking Conditions:Significant business travel to tradeshows, conferences, client meetings, on-site support in Bristol, PA and Princeton, NJ (> 50%).General office environment, remote home office, or hybrid.Compensation:$150,000- $185,000 per annumNJ Bio, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
