Position Summary

The Senior Director, Application Solutions leads the Application Solutions team in delivering scalable, secure, and efficient business applications. Defines and executes application strategy, architecture, development standards, and integration capabilities aligned with business objectives and enterprise architecture. Partners with business, product, and technology leaders to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and ensure application solutions support key business capabilities. Oversees software development best practices, governance, reusable frameworks, and performance metrics to promote quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Application Solutions organization, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture while recruiting, developing, and coaching leaders and technical teams.
  • Define and execute the enterprise application strategy, roadmap, and cloud adoption plans to support business objectives, growth initiatives, and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Partner with business, product, architecture, data, and infrastructure leaders to deliver scalable application and integration solutions that drive business value and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee application portfolio, including solution architecture, solution design/reuseable design patterns, technology selection, modernization efforts, and remediation of technical debt and legacy systems.
  • Establish and continuously improve software development methodologies, architecture patterns, design patterns, coding standards, governance processes, and KPI-driven performance frameworks.
  • Lead workforce planning, resource allocation, vendor management, and sourcing strategies across onshore, offshore, employee, and contractor teams to optimize delivery outcomes.
  • Manage operational and financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and the implementation of effective controls and contingency plans.
  • Serve as a member of the IT senior leadership team, communicating strategy and complex technical concepts to executive and business stakeholders while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as business needs evolve.
Qualifications and Competencies Required

Required Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience across one or more Information Technology disciplines, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise technology solutions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing technology teams/organizations, including the development and oversight of high-performing teams.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading and operating within Agile delivery environments and methodologies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience presenting complex concepts, strategies, and recommendations to executive, business, and technical stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience establishing, measuring, and managing departmental performance metrics and operational effectiveness.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and continuously improving processes and KPI frameworks, preferably aligned to industry-standard methodologies and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, application delivery, organizational leadership, and technology governance.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications and continuing education in areas such as Project Management (PMBOK), Capability Maturity Model (CMM), Agile methodologies, and Microsoft Azure preferred.
Skills Required
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning, performance measurement, and process improvement using industry-standard methodologies and KPI frameworks.
  • Experience leveraging DevOps and CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps, to support efficient software delivery and quality assurance practices.
  • Deep expertise in Agile methodologies, product delivery, and organizational transformation within complex technology environments.
  • Broad knowledge of cloud technologies and enterprise platforms, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, on-premises environments, and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop application and architecture strategies, lead digital transformation initiatives, and evaluate emerging technologies to drive business value.
  • Exceptional servant leadership, communication, and coaching skills, with a proven ability to build high-performing teams, drive accountability, foster innovation, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
  • Financial Services industry experience preferred, including knowledge of industry regulations, standards, risk management practices, and business operations.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-cloud and containerization strategies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) to reduce vendor dependency, improve portability, and optimize platform capabilities across enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of emerging technologies and cloud-native architectures that support scalability, resiliency, and business growth.
