Job summary

SAS is seeking a Senior Digital Twin Program Manager to lead the delivery of a real-time simulation platform that mirrors physical systems. You will work in a hybrid role based in Cary, NC or remotely in the US, guiding multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, design and data to deliver a high-fidelity digital twin solution.

You will own the program plan, manage trade-offs between fidelity, performance and timing, and ensure alignment with security and enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years in software engineering and technical program management, including 3+ years leading large-scale software programs.
• Hands-on experience delivering real-time 3D or simulation apps in Unreal Engine or similar engine.

Responsibilities

• Own the program plan for the Digital Twin Platform, define scope with engineering leads, sequence dependencies, and set milestones.
• Plan and adjust delivery schedule, scope, resourcing, and quality, balancing fidelity, performance and release commitments.
• Act as the central point of contact for technical and business issues, translating constraints for stakeholders and engineers.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk early, including asset pipelines, engine upgrades, GPU dependencies, licensing.
• Coordinate domestic and international teams, manage resource conflicts, and keep commitments across groups.
• Maintain program documentation and communicate progress to senior management.
• Stay current with real-time simulation tech and share knowledge across the program.

About the job

The Digital Twin Platform team is looking for a Sr. Digital Twin Program Manager to lead the delivery of a real-time simulation platform that mirrors physical systems (plants, fleets, facilities and the equipment inside them) so our customers can test, tune and predict before they commit in the real world. Our team works at the intersection of real-time 3D, physics simulation and industrial data: photoreal environments built in Unreal Engine, physics and sensor models that behave like real world hardware, and USD, CAD and IoT pipelines that keep the twin faithful to the asset it represents.

This is a role for an engineer who moved into program leadership and kept the engineering instinct. You will sit in design and architecture reviews rather than status meetings alone, scope work alongside the people writing the code, call the trade-offs between fidelity, performance and schedule, and hold a roadmap steady while the technology underneath it moves quickly. If you have shipped real-time simulation software and would rather shape how a platform gets built than write every line of it yourself, this is where that experience compounds.

As a Sr. Digital Twin Program Manager, you will:

• Own the program plan for the Digital Twin Platform: define scope and goals with engineering leads and stakeholders, sequence dependencies across the real-time 3D, simulation and data integration workstreams, and set the milestones the roadmap is measured against.
• Plan, prioritize and adjust delivery schedule, scope, resourcing and quality as requirements evolve, making explicit and defensible trade-offs between simulation fidelity, runtime performance and release commitments.
• Act as the central point of contact for technical and business issues across the program, participating in design and architecture reviews, translating engineering constraints for stakeholders and business priorities for engineers.
• Identify, track and mitigate technical risk early, including asset and content pipelines, engine and toolchain upgrades, GPU and hardware dependencies, third-party licensing. Be ready to escalation with a recommended course of action.
• Coordinate the activities of domestic and international engineering, design and data teams; negotiate resource and dependency conflicts constructively and keep commitments aligned across groups and functions at SAS.
• Maintain program documentation including plans, schedules, risk registers and status reporting, and communicate progress, decisions and changes to senior and executive management.
• Keep current with state-of-the-art real-time simulation technologies, standards and practices, and transfer that knowledge to the wider program and project management community at SAS.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of combined experience in software engineering and technical program or project management, including at least 3 years managing large-scale, complex software programs.
• Hands‑on engineering experience delivering real-time 3D or simulation applications in Unreal Engine or a comparable engine, sufficient to review technical designs, size effort and assess risk without translation.
• Working knowledge of simulation fundamentals: physics modeling, sensor simulation and synthetic data generation. The more experience with 3D and industrial data interchange, including USD, CAD formats and IoT or telemetry ingestion, the better!
• Demonstrated record of delivering multi-team software programs on schedule and across time zones, owning scope, dependency and risk management end to end.
• Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Additional competencies, knowledge and skills

• Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills – Comprehends and explains technical terminology and recent advances in real-time simulation, and applies that expertise to solve difficult delivery problems and judge technical trade-offs.
• Driving for Results – Sets challenging goals for self and the program, measures progress against them, and works tenaciously to remove obstacles so commitments are met.
• Communication – Conveys information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences, adjusts the message to the listener, and listens actively to confirm understanding.
• PMP, PgMP or SAFe certification, or equivalent professional program management training.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse and OpenUSD pipelines, or comparable tooling for moving data between CAD and PLM systems and real-time engines.
• Background delivering digital twin, industrial simulation, robotics or autonomous systems products in manufacturing, energy, utilities or logistics.
• Experience with SAS software, or with integrating analytics and streaming data into simulation environments.
