Job summary

Renesas is seeking a Senior Staff Digital Systems & Emulation Engineer to lead pre-silicon emulation and validation for next-gen power management products. You will bridge system architecture, digital design, FPGA/emulation, and control algorithms to deliver real-time prototypes.

The role emphasizes ownership of emulation architecture, hands-on FPGA work, and collaboration with multiple engineering teams across the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in digital design, FPGA, emulation, or semiconductor development.
• Strong hands-on experience with FPGA architecture, implementation, and debugging.
• Proficiency in Verilog and/or SystemVerilog RTL design.
• Solid understanding of clocks, resets, CDC, state machines, datapaths, and interfaces.
• Experience with FPGA synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware bring-up.
• Ability to script and automate using Python, TCL, shell, or similar.
• Hands-on debugging across RTL, firmware, and hardware.
• Ability to translate requirements into emulation and validation architectures.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain FPGA-emulation platforms for advanced digital controllers.
• Map RTL into FPGA/emulation environments for pre-silicon development and validation.
• Develop reusable FPGA infrastructure, interfaces, and debug methodologies.
• Improve build, configuration, automation, and debug flows for cross-team access.
• Integrate FPGA/emulated controllers with real power stages, loads, and instrumentation.
• Correlate ASIC and FPGA behavior to maintain system-level fidelity.
• Develop and validate RTL blocks for emulation and prototyping.
• Support digital interfaces, ADC/DAC paths, PWM, telemetry, and control logic.
• Work with teams to correlate behavioral models, RTL, emulation, and silicon.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
