Job summary

Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) is hiring a senior digital security trainer to conduct in-field digital security training with journalists and newsrooms. You will join a team providing trainings, consultations, and security audits for diverse news organizations and independent producers.

The role involves developing curricula, contributing to guides and newsletters, and potentially expanding into video and audio content. Occasional travel may be required to support clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, journalism, education, or related field preferred, or four years of cybersecurity awareness training experience.
• Experience training on technical topics for nontechnical audiences.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect with journalists.

Responsibilities

• Lead digital security trainings on risk assessment, password managers, MFA, encrypted calls, online privacy, device security, and more.
• Collaborate with team to meet client needs from intake to follow-up.
• Develop curricula and training materials for digital security trainings.
• Contribute to guides, blog posts, newsletters, and other editorial content.
• In the long term, train SecureDrop clients and journalists on installation and use.
