Qualifications

• 6+ years in news, TV, or daily digital video.
• 3+ years of newsroom management overseeing a team.
• Expertise in political and general journalism.
• Experience with CMS and digital publishing tools.
• Strong AP Style, editing and headline writing.
• Ability to lead and make decisions under pressure in breaking news.
• Experience using analytics to optimize content strategy.
• Strong SEO and social media skills to boost reach.
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to pivot between breaking news and enterprise reporting.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with Managing Editors on newsgathering strategies and performance plans.
• Lead editors and reporters to deliver exclusive, agenda-setting journalism.
• Oversee both long-term editorial planning and fast-paced daily news operations.
• Assign and manage story coverage across verticals for impact and timeliness.
• Approve pitches from reporters/editors to align with mission and audience.
• Direct breaking news coverage with quick editorial decisions.
• Utilize real-time analytics to drive editorial decisions and engagement.
• Monitor competitors and industry trends to stay ahead.
• Primarily an editing/management role, with occasional reporting responsibilities.
