Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Principal Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced digital electronic systems for aerospace and defense, from requirements definition through testing and deployment.

You will design digital circuits and CCAs, perform verification, collaborate with ECAD, and guide peers. Onsite role; U.S. citizenship and security clearance required.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with digital electronics design and schematic capture.
• Proficient in circuit card assembly (CCA) design and traceability.
• Experience across hardware development phases from requirements to production.
• Ability to verify hardware with testing and debugging in lab environments.
• Knowledge of aerospace/defense design standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to hardware development lifecycle from concept through production.
• Design and develop digital circuits and CCAs using schematic capture tools.
• Perform hardware verification, testing, and troubleshooting with lab equipment.
• Collaborate with ECAD drafters on stack‑up, simulation, layout, and routing.
• Plan and execute integration and verification activities in labs.
• Define schedules for circuit card and subsystem tasks.
• Foster technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
