Senior Digital Forensic Analyst

A leading eDiscovery technology and consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC is looking for a qualified and experienced Senior Digital Forensic Analyst. We are seeking a motivated individual with a strong interest in the legal and technology fields, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch service to our clients. This position involves both domestic and international travel for on-site collection efforts. Additionally, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office presence at our primary office in Washington, DC, where our forensics lab and data center are located.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

1. Independently perform complex forensic data collections and analysis in both on-site and remote capacity.
2. Consult with and coordinate directly with legal teams/client IT departments to establish and define project scope and forensic workflows.
3. Maintain forensic tools and technologies by staying informed on version updates and new options in the market.
4. Work closely with project management and other team members on completing complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
5. Contribute to the development, documentation, and enhancement of procedures to meet discovery process requirements.
6. Provide clients with accurate project estimates and identify areas for upselling to increase department revenue.
7. Assist leadership’s vision through process improvement, innovation, leadership, and industry trends.
8. Consistently contribute and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring they are regularly reviewed, updated, and followed.
9. Perform quality control checks on work product prior to delivering to the client.
10. Complete additional duties assigned by manager.
11. Provide guidance and training to junior forensic team members and other team members.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science or Computer Science/Engineering.
2. 6+ years of relevant experience where the analyst understands the forensic lifecycle and can properly perform scoping activities, evidence acquisitions on a range of devices, and execute forensic analysis at an expert level.
3. Experience using industry standard forensic tools such as Axiom, EnCase, Cellebrite, FTK Imager, Digital Collector.
4. General understanding of Mac/Windows filesystems, mobile devices, and encryption.
5. Experience preserving desktops, laptops, mobile devices/tablets, servers, both cloud and on-premise email implementations, nontraditional cloud data sources, social media, etc. in a forensically sound manner.
6. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both verbally and in written format to team members and technical/non-technical clients.
7. Ability to work extended hours when necessary to ensure client deadlines are met.
8. Must be willing to travel regularly on short notice; must have valid passport for occasional international travel.
9. Must be an energetic self-starter who can work within a team environment but also independently as the situation requires.
10. Ability to document forensic workflows based on sound industry practice.
11. Willingness to develop/train other team members to increase the group’s overall knowledge base as well as cultivate secondary resources to assist in larger collection events.
12. Understanding of the electronic discovery reference model (EDRM).
13. Ability to submit time entries on a regular basis to meet performance metrics.
14. Strong troubleshooting skills coupled with the ability to solution on the fly to solve complex problems.

THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

1. Possess at least one industry standard certification (EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, CCME, etc.) and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
2. Extensive knowledge of litigation support applications (e.g. Relativity, Nuix, Google Workspace including Vault, Microsoft 365 including Purview, etc.).
3. Experience working with structured data exported from various platforms including analysis, custom scripting, and data manipulation to develop reports for client use.
4. Experience with scripting, programming/coding, database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access).

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary starting at $110,000 based on experience; plus performance-based bonuses and the opportunity to participate in our employee profit-sharing program.
