Job summary

French Ellison Truck Center in Pharr, TX is actively seeking entry level and experienced Diesel Truck Mechanics to join our growing dealer group. You will perform repair, troubleshooting and maintenance on Class 8 trucks, requiring mechanical aptitude and 3–5 years of experience for more senior roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Formal technical degree, certificate or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Experienced technicians must have at least 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Personal tool inventory to allow for the completion of job duties and assignments.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
• Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics and technical bulletins.

Responsibilities

• Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Troubleshoots systems including electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine and suspension; identifies repairs and performs action.
• Writes up repair order descriptions with causes and procedures.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to detect faults and interprets test results.
• Communicates with Shop Foreman and parts department to obtain necessary parts.
• Road tests customer vehicles to verify repairs and isolates problems.
• Tracks and records hours on the Repair Order and describes each operation.
