Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. in Orlando, FL is hiring a diesel mechanic for a fast-paced shop environment. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7AM–5PM with overtime eligibility.

Pay range starts at $29–$35+ per hour, with weekly pay and branch performance bonuses. Benefits start after the first full month and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid holidays, vacation time, and tools provided for the job.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Background in heavy construction equipment or rental.
• Advanced experience with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel and gas engines.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR aftertreatment systems is highly preferred.
• Extensive experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment.
• Must have the necessary tools to perform repairs.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment to manufacturer specifications.
• Advanced understanding of schematics, computer diagnostic software, and welding methods.
• Demonstrate organizational skills and effective time management.
• Successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains including transmissions on equipment and trucks.
• Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform routine service including checking fluids, changing fluids, and lubrication.
• Maintain accurate records on maintenance and repair, including warranty records.
