Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. You’ll contribute to a high-performing service department and may advance toward leadership roles.

Expect daily hands-on work, documentation, and exceptional customer service to support customers. The role involves travel to customer sites as needed, tools you own, and collaboration with teammates in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of equipment repair experience.
• Owns tools required for the position.
• Strong mechanical background and engine knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
