Job summary

Ten Ton Truck Center & Forklift Repair in Buena Park, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Diesel Mechanic to own complex diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting across trucks, forklifts, reefers, trailers, and other heavy equipment. You will diagnose difficult problems, use advanced diagnostic software and tools, work independently, and maintain high workmanship standards in a hands-on shop environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on diesel/heavy-duty repair experience.
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems independently.
• Proficient with diagnostic procedures and repair practices.
• Able to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid California driver's license; ASE certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, scan tools, testing equipment and manuals.
• Work on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose difficult or recurring equipment problems and determine repair solutions.
• Inspect equipment for mechanical and safety concerns and perform preventive maintenance.
• Document findings, repairs, and parts used; communicate with management and service personnel.
• Assist less-experienced technicians with difficult repairs when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow safety procedures.

Ten Ton Truck Center & Forklift Repair is looking for an experienced Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our Buena Park, CA shop and take ownership of complex diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting across a range of trucks, forklifts, reefers, trailers, and other heavy-duty equipment.

This role is designed for a highly experienced technician who can work independently, diagnose difficult problems, and help maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout the shop.

Compensation & Benefits

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems
• Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, scan tools, testing equipment, and technical information
• Work on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and electrical systems
• Diagnose difficult or recurring equipment problems and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Inspect trucks, forklifts, reefers, trailers, and other equipment for mechanical and safety concerns
• Perform preventive maintenance and major repair work
• Complete emissions-related diagnostics and repairs as applicable
• Test equipment before and after repairs to confirm proper operation
• Accurately document diagnostic findings, repairs, and parts used
• Communicate technical findings and repair recommendations to management and service personnel
• Assist less-experienced technicians with difficult repairs and troubleshooting when needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience in diesel, heavy-duty equipment, automotive, or related mechanical repair
• Ability to independently diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems
• Strong understanding of diagnostic procedures and repair practices
• Comfortable using professional hand tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic technology
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair information
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while supporting the overall shop team
• Valid California driver's license required
• ASE or other relevant certifications are a plus

Work Environment

This is a hands-on repair shop environment with exposure to vehicles and equipment, mechanical components, fumes, and moderate to high noise levels. The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting tools and parts as part of normal shop work.
