Job summary

AutoShop Recruiting is partnering with a St. Clair Shores area independent shop to hire a Diagnostic Automotive Technician / A-Level Mechanic. This role focuses on diagnosing complex drivability and electrical issues across domestic, Asian, European, and miscellaneous vehicles.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, ego-free, team-oriented master technician who can produce results and educates others. Expect a strong compensation package with a hybrid pay structure based on hours produced.

Qualifications

True A-level, master technician background.
Strong drivability and electrical problem solving ability.
Independent thinker capable of ownership with minimal oversight.
Excellent documentation and communication with advisors and team.
Independent shop experience with multiple vehicle lines.

Responsibilities

Diagnose drivability, electrical, check-engine-light, misfire and no-start issues.
Use scan tools, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic procedures to verify failures.
Handle complex repairs on hard-to-diagnose vehicles.
Perform high-quality repairs across domestic, Asian/import, European vehicles.
Document findings clearly and communicate with service advisors and management.
Produce hours independently while mentoring younger technicians.
Work within shop processes and maintain quality, productivity, and customer trust.
Help raise shop performance and team capability.
