Job summary

Zapata Technology, Inc. is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer in Sterling, VA to join a skilled IT team.

The role focuses on integrating software in air-gapped environments, building robust tooling for document ingestion, and maintaining secure deployments across multiple networks with Helm, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies. The candidate will ensure secure access controls, perform UAT readiness, and collaborate across departments on complex contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related work experience (or 4 years with degree substituted).
• Experience delivering software into air-gapped or disconnected environments.
• Experience with document parsing and data conversion (DOCX, XLSX, PDF, XML, JSON) and regex handling.
• Experience with a search engine such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including index provisioning and security.
• Linux system administration knowledge (CLI, services, VM constraints).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and multitasking ability.
• Collaboration across the organization on contracts/projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform software integration tasks, including requirements gathering, scripting, testing, and documentation.
• Design, develop, and maintain tools for document ingestion, normalization, and indexing with access controls.
• Develop and maintain content conversion and migration tools with preserved permissions.
• Manage scalable deployments across networks using DevSecOps practices; package and deploy with Helm and Kubernetes; support air-gap delivery paths.
• Maintain security posture of tools handling classified data, including mTLS, PKI identity, and tamper-evident logging.
• Additional duties as assigned.
