Job summary

Pueo is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team onsite in McLean, VA. You will design and secure air-gapped Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms in classified enclaves, implement automated security controls, and drive RMF/ATO evidence generation for complex workloads.

You will lead security initiatives across CI/CD pipelines, zero trust, PKI, and incident response, coordinating with development and operations to accelerate authorization timelines while maintaining

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and CI poly.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field and 12 years of experience, or 16+ years total with substitute.
• IAT III Certification per DoD 8570.01-M and 8140 (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, CASE).
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift in air-gapped/classified environments.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD architectures in disconnected networks.
• Expertise in NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs, RMF, and ATO processes.
• Familiarity with SAST/DAST/IAST and automated compliance checks.
• Experience mapping pipeline artifacts to RMF/ATO controls and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to cross-functional security initiatives.
• Architect secure, scalable container platforms for mixed-sensitivity workloads in SCIFs.
• Map CI/CD artifacts to RMF/ATO controls and accelerate authorization via automation.
• Tailor federal compliance requirements across NIST, CNSS and directives.
• Implement Zero Trust end-to-end from build to runtime.
• Operate Kubernetes/OpenShift in air-gapped enclaves and troubleshoot with minimal external support.
• Detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents while preserving data integrity.
• Coordinate development, security, and operations teams on secure, compliant practices.
• Design disaster recovery and resilience strategies across isolated sites.
