Job summary

Ford is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Global Dev Tools team within the Enterprise Platform Engineering and Operations (EPEO). You will design, build, and operate the cloud-native platform that powers Ford's Software Development Lifecycle, focusing on GCP/GKE, Terraform, and GitHub Actions/Jenkins.

You will enable PDO teams to ship reliably and often, with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or related field
• 8+ years of hands-on DevOps/Platform Engineering experience
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or Go with production code
• Proficiency authoring YAML for CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes manifests
• Solid scripting in Bash/Shell/Python for automation
• Deep, hands-on GCP experience (GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, IAM)
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform and provisioning GCP resources
• Hands-on CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Jenkins
• Production experience containerizing apps with Docker/Podman on Kubernetes
• Experience with GitOps tooling for declarative infrastructure
• Experience integrating SonarQube in CI/CD pipelines
• API design and integration with Apigee, OAuth2, JWT
• Looker Studio / BigQuery observability dashboards
• Observability chops: metrics, logs, tracing
• Knowledge of AI/ML tooling in dev workflows

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Terraform-provisioned GCP infrastructure and GKE clusters
• Develop and maintain YAML pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and GitOps configs
• Automate repetitive tasks with Bash/Python/Go scripts
• Own end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Jenkins
• Develop backend APIs using Java, Go, or Python and secure with OAuth2/JWT
• Run containers on Kubernetes and handle production issues
• Improve observability with dashboards and alerting
• Lead incident response and provide mentorship on CI/CD best practices
• Embed security/compliance into platform tooling and pipelines
• Explore AI-assisted tooling and agent-based automation for IaC and tests
