Job summary

Fidelity Life, together with eFinancial, seeks an experienced DevOps Leader in the Chicago area to design and manage scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC. You will coach engineers, own deployments, and drive automation and reliability across critical production systems.

Responsibilities include setting the technical direction, implementing IaC and tests, and promoting security and compliance in partnership with leadership to meet enterprise objectives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management experience.
• 7+ years in a DevOps role, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proven experience with AWS services and cloud migration projects.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and modern pipeline automation; experience with Bitbucket Pipelines preferred.
• Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Strong knowledge of Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
• Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated experience leading incident response, owning production reliability, mentoring engineers, and setting team technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, including coaching engineers through delivery.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines), Terraform IaC, and internal tooling.
• Ensure successful execution of complex production deployments with automation and rollback.
• Improve deployment safety through automation and pre/post-deploy verification.
• Define the team's technical strategy and continuous improvement roadmap aligned with enterprise standards.
• Develop and implement production ownership model in line with operations standards.
• Manage people, performance, and hiring for the team; set quality standards and review practices.
• Communicate with leadership and teams; author and present technical documentation and direction.
• Enforce enterprise standards, security best practices, and compliance including change and incident processes.
• Design and improve the shared engineering platform enabling product teams with automation and self-service tooling.
• Evaluate and promote AI-enabled engineering to improve productivity, deployment quality, and incident response.
