Job summary

RiseMe is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the cloud infrastructure for our Ruby API powering LGBTQ+ mobile dating apps. This remote, full-time role focuses on AWS, Terraform, and a modern API stack in Ruby/Rails/Sinatra, with a distributed team practicing pair programming and collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of software development, 5+ years DevOps (AWS), and experience across Java/Ruby/Python/Go/.NET.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of DevOps experience with AWS or equivalent.
• 5+ years in software development using Java/Ruby/Python/Go/.NET.
• Experience with design and architectural patterns.
• Strong ownership and independent work ethic with proven impact.
• Shipped consumer API used concurrently by thousands of users.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a complex backend processing hundreds of millions of requests daily.
• Manage, modernize and innovate API, process and database servers on AWS.
• Terraform cloud architecture for consistency across environments.
• Build a modern API atop Ruby, Rails and/or Sinatra in a functional style.
• Write well-structured, tested code using RSpec with TDD/BDD.
• Apply architectural patterns beyond MVC in Rails.
• Mentor a distributed team of developers and collaborate across time zones.
• Coordinate pairing hours and screen-sharing across regions.
