Job summary

SMASH is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated software delivery and infrastructure processes in a regulated financial services environment. You will work with Software Engineers, QA, and Systems Administrators to build secure, scalable deployment pipelines in Azure.

The role emphasizes CI/CD automation, IaC, containerization, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of combined professional experience in DevOps, software development, or systems administration.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Octopus Deploy.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Ansible.
• Experience building and managing containers with Docker.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Ability to administer and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux OS.
• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and Bash.
• Experience managing Git repositories and version-control workflows.
• Ability to troubleshoot, review, and support code written in C#, MVC, .NET Core, or similar OOP languages.
• Experience contributing to SDLC automation and internal tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery and deployment.
• Support transitions from manual and legacy deployments to fully automated CI/CD workflows.
• Advocate for DevOps practices across software development, infrastructure, and QA teams.
• Integrate security, quality, performance, and reliability controls throughout the SDLC.
• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions using Microsoft Azure.
• Automate provisioning and configuration with Terraform and Ansible.
• Build, manage, and troubleshoot containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Administer Windows and Linux environments and troubleshoot issues.
• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and Bash.
• Build and maintain deployment pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, or similar tools.
• Manage Git repositories and version-control workflows.
• Collaborate with software engineers to troubleshoot, review, and support code written in C#, MVC, .NET Core, or OO languages.
• Contribute to SDLC automation tasks and internal tooling.
• Implement and maintain automated testing processes (unit, UI, API).
• Support service-layer testing with tools like Postman.
• Assist with troubleshooting production incidents and deployment failures.
• Provide operational support between development and infrastructure teams.
• Collaborate with systems and network engineers to standardize technologies and deployment practices.
• Work with relational databases to support deployments and troubleshooting.
• Apply IT security best practices, including encryption and key management.
• Research and implement improvements around microservices, cloud, and DevOps tech.
• Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and improve pipeline efficiency.
• Establish and document technical standards and DevOps practices.
• Review work and contribute to engineering quality under the DevOps Manager direction.
• Provide occasional evening or weekend support for releases and critical issues.
