Job summary

Encord is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the San Francisco platform engineering team. You will drive automation, reliability, and scalability for our data platform, collaborating with multiple squads to deliver robust cloud infrastructure and observability.

The role emphasizes building CI/CD pipelines, managing Kubernetes clusters on GCP/AWS, and improving release processes. You will shape reliability through SLIs/SLOs and contribute to high-performance systems.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of hands-on DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE experience in a production environment.
• Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation at scale.
• Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and configuration management.
• Strong fundamentals in designing, building, and maintaining resilient distributed and/or high performance systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads in cloud environments (GCP and/or AWS).
• Solid understanding of networking, operating systems, and database technologies.
• Experience with observability fundamentals metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve deployment pipelines and champion DevOps practices across teams.
• Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on GCP/AWS; manage Kubernetes at scale.
• Build automation and internal tooling to boost developer productivity.
• Profile services and plan capacity for storage and compute-intensive workloads.
• Define SLIs/SLOs/SLAs; build alerting and incident response processes.
• Instrument services for observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
