Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a fast-paced software development team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will bridge software development and IT operations, automating build, test, deployment, and operational processes in an on-site environment.

The role requires a strong background in system administration, software development, and cloud infrastructure with a focus on CI/CD, IaC, and containerization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or system administration role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with microservices architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Manage and automate cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, and implement proactive measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Implement and manage containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure smooth software releases.
• Establish and enforce best practices for version control, configuration management, and deployment.
• Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and configurations.
