Job summary

SherlockTalent is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and operate SageMaker-based ML pipelines in AWS, ensuring security, uptime, and cost management for a 1 Bank-led project. The role emphasizes Terraform/CDK, EKS, and GitOps practices.

You will build secure landing zones, implement least-privilege IAM, and deploy infrastructure-as-code across subnets, secrets, and S3 resources. Remote/Hybrid with PST overlap.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of DevOps/SRE on AWS, incl. 3+ years for ML or data-heavy platforms.
• Deep expertise in Terraform or CDK, containers, and EKS operations.
• Proven FinOps results in regulated environments (banking, healthcare, etc.).
• Experience with SageMaker; familiarity with Bedrock, EMR, Kafka, or Iceberg is a plus.
• AWS Professional Certification or similar credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate SageMaker-based ML pipelines in AWS with security and cost controls.
• Provision secure landing zones using AWS CDK and Terraform; implement least-privilege IAM.
• Build GitOps pipelines in Argo CD for model retraining and data-drift checks.
• Move toward EKS-based microservices behind API Gateway with zero-downtime.
• Establish CloudWatch/Grafana dashboards for latency, cost, and data-quality SLOs.
• Apply policy-as-code (OPA/Kyverno) for banking-grade compliance at commit time.
• Champion infrastructure-as-code; every subnet/secret/S3 bucket via PR.

About the role:

A Tier-1 U.S. bank is modernising its 20-year-old core platform. We need a seasoned DevOps engineer to design and operate SageMaker-based ML pipelines in AWS while meeting strict security, uptime, and cost-management requirements.

What you’ll do:

• Provision secure landing zones with AWS CDK and Terraform; implement least-privilege IAM.
• Build GitOps pipelines in Argo CD for continuous model retraining, blue/green inference, and data-drift checks.
• Break monolithic services into EKS microservices behind API Gateway with zero-downtime principles.
• Set up CloudWatch and Grafana dashboards for latency, cost, and data-quality SLOs with real-time alerts.
• Apply policy-as-code (OPA or Kyverno) so every container meets banking-grade compliance at commit time.
• Champion infrastructure-as-code: every subnet, secret, and S3 bucket lands through a pull request.

What you bring:

• 7 + years DevOps / SRE on AWS, with at least 3 years supporting ML or data-heavy platforms.
• Deep expertise in Terraform or CDK, containers, and EKS operations.
• Demonstrated FinOps results in regulated environments (banking, healthcare, etc.).
• Strong experience with SageMaker; familiarity with Bedrock, EMR, Kafka, or Iceberg is a plus.
• Proficiency with CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Trivy, Falco, and related security tools.
• Clear, concise communicator committed to blameless post-mortems.
• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent). AWS Professional or CKA cert preferred.
