Job summary

MANTECH is seeking a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA. The role focuses on developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure infrastructure for intelligence community clients.

You will lead CI/CD pipelines, manage AWS resources, and implement robust security practices across cloud and container environments, collaborating with software and systems teams to meet mission objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with extensive experience in DevOps.
• Senior-level DevOps experience with modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and provision AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC) for scalable architectures.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and GitHub.
• Perform routine vulnerability scans and apply security patches to cloud and on‑prem infrastructure.
• Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes and EKS clusters for high availability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure systems meet security and operational requirements.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and security posture.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Herndon, VA. This role is integral to supporting the company's mission by leveraging your technical expertise to develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure infrastructure solutions. The Senior DevOps Engineer will work closely with a diverse team of software developers, systems engineers, network specialists, and data engineers to create innovative software solutions that enable secure and efficient operations for our clients in the intelligence community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and security protocols, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and extensive professional experience. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience are preferred. Alternatively, candidates with a High School diploma and over 14 years of extensive technical experience will also be considered. Candidates should have at least 11 years of experience in DevOps, front‑end, or full-stack development, demonstrating a deep understanding of modern software development practices. Proficiency in Bash scripting, experience with cloud environments such as AWS, and expertise in Linux system administration are essential. Knowledge of creating and managing CI/CD pipelines, along with experience in network documentation, security compliance, configuration management, and patching, is required for this role.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior DevOps Engineer encompass a broad range of technical and collaborative tasks. You will be responsible for deploying and provisioning AWS resources, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, RDS databases, IAM roles, and VPC configurations to support scalable and resilient architecture. Building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab and GitHub will be a core aspect of your role, ensuring seamless integration and deployment processes. Routine vulnerability scans, applying security patches, and updating both cloud and physical infrastructure are critical to maintaining security compliance. You will design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes and EKS clusters to ensure high availability and optimal productivity for development teams. Collaboration with stakeholders is vital to ensure systems meet all operational and security requirements. Additionally, you will be expected to recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and security posture.
