About the role
Cloudera is seeking a talented, motivated, and passionate Senior DevOps Engineer to join our IT Technical Operations team. This individual will be responsible for the technical ownership, design, planning, implementation, and performance tuning of mission-critical enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage Linux compute environments and infrastructure daily.
- Innovate and automate operations in public cloud and on-prem data centers.
- Develop implementation plans, scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure high uptime for critical applications.
- Create and maintain documentation for operational audits, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SRE, Security, Engineering) on solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues, lead problem-solving efforts involving vendors and support teams.
- Maintain data/system security and pursue continuous security improvements.
- Ensure high availability and performance of critical services.
- Develop backup and restoration procedures for systems and applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with RHEL-based Linux, Git, Puppet, pip, etc.
- Moderate to advanced experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL.
- Strong scripting and debugging skills in Python and Bash.
- Operational experience with Django, HTML, CSS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
- Experience with HAProxy and Nginx load balancing.
- Operational experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, ELB/ALBs, Route53 API).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of cryptography, SSL, PKI.
- Intermediate to advanced TCP/IP networking knowledge.
- Red Hat and/or Amazon certifications.
- Experience with Docker containers.
- Experience administering OpenStack private clouds.
