Two Six Technologies in Herndon, VA is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own end-to-end automation of delivery pipelines, ensuring secure, reliable deployment from cloud-native to bare metal. You will work with developers, testers, product owners, and customers, use Terraform and Ansible for provisioning, and apply Docker, Nomad, Vault, Kubernetes to production environments.

This role requires TS/SCI clearance, 5–7 years of DevOps/SRE experience, and travel 10–15%.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or related roles delivering products.
• Strong Linux (RHEL/Debian) and shell scripting skills.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with container and orchestration tools (Docker, Nomad, Kubernetes).
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting for automation.

Responsibilities

• Own CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimization for secure product delivery.
• Harden environments (bare metal, on-prem, cloud) and ensure secure-by-default configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering to maintain operability of system components.

Overview of Opportunity

As a Two Six Technologies Senior DevOps Engineer , you will own the end-to-end automation of our delivery pipelines. Acting as the glue between code and production, you will ensure that our product makes it to the customer quickly, securely, and reliably. You will work closely with developers, testers, product owners, and customers to ensure requirements are met and successfully deployed in a variety of environments, ranging from cloud-native to standalone bare metal.

The work will be onsite in our Herndon, VA office. Candidate must have an active TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities Include

• CI/CD Pipeline Ownership: Build and optimize reliable pipelines to support the secure packaging of our product for diverse customer targets.
• Environment Hardening: Handle the security and configuration of deployment environments, ensuring our products are "secure by default" upon delivery to bare metal, on-prem, and cloud environments.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to ensure that our system's functional decomposition remains operationally fluid and easy to manage.
• Environment Provisioning: Use Terraform and Ansible to ensure customer-facing environments are consistently configured and hardened.
• Operational Feedback: Provide feedback on the "deployability" of the system to ensure architectural decisions result in a stable and maintainable product for the end customer.
• Documentation of the deployment and operational aspects of the system as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5-7 Years of Experience: Proven experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or SRE roles with a focus on product delivery.
• Linux Proficiency: Strong background in RHEL and Debian variants, including comfort with systemd, networking tools (iptables/tcpdump), and shell scripting.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible to automate environment setup and product configuration.
• Orchestration Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with Docker and familiarity with Nomad, Vault, and Kubernetes.
• Scripting Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python and Bash for developing automation and integration "glue" code.
• Cloud Experience: Knowledge in deploying, securing, and maintaining production applications with at least one cloud provider (preferably AWS).
• CI/CD and Tooling: Basic proficiency in CI/CD tooling and pipelines, with hands‑on experience with GitHub Actions or GitLab Pipelines.
• Networking and Security: Strong understanding of transport protocols, proper port handling, firewall/ACLs, and proxy services.
• Security: Active TS/SCI required.
• Travel: Will need to travel 10-15% of the time to CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Salary Range

$145,000 - $210,000 USD
