As a Senior DevOps Cloud Engineer - Azure , you will lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of cloud and backend infrastructure, ensuring our clients' platforms are scalable and secure. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, strong proficiency in Terraform, and experience in backend development to support our diverse set of project needs.

The position is on-site at our office in Boxborough, MA and additionally may require up to 10% domestic travel to external testing laboratories or customer sites, to support testing/troubleshooting and product deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud solutions on Azure.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and related automation tooling.
• Architect and implement containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and related orchestration tools.
• Optimize and scale backend services, including adding API routes.
• Identify and remediate existing infrastructure gaps, inefficiencies, and security risks.
• Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity management, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (primarily in GitHub Actions, with the flexibility to explore alternative solutions).
• Conduct root cause analysis, monitor, and drive system reliability improvements.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams in cloud and DevOps best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, ME, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, DevOps, or backend infrastructure, with a minimum of 5 years focused on Azure.
• Extensive experience with Terraform, including best practices for modularization, state management, and automation workflows.
• Proficiency in backend development, particularly in designing and scaling RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads in production environments.
• Security-first mindset, with experience implementing cloud security controls, IAM, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, etc.).
• Proven ability to identify and resolve technical debt and optimize cloud costs.
• Experience managing relational databases (Postgres preferred).
• Experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
• Hands-on experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Comfortable working in a self-directed manner within a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
• Strong mentorship and leadership abilities, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
