Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced senior DevOps/SRE professional to accelerate cloud migration, build self-service platforms, and lead architectural efforts. The role emphasizes secure, scalable infrastructure and strong collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities include designing IaC pipelines, mentoring staff, and ensuring production reliability. A hybrid work arrangement is available, with on-call and ongoing maintenance duties to support critical systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT related experience.
• 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or Software Development.
• Public Cloud Depth: Deep experience architecting and managing production workloads in a major public cloud (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Technical Leadership: Ability to mentor staff, lead code reviews, and design high-level architecture.
• 5+ years in cloud-native environments with automation (intermediate level).
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Enablement: Migrate and evolve applications in the public cloud (primarily GCP), focusing on GKE, VPC design, and IAM.
• Developer Platform Engineering: Build self-service infrastructure tools for provisioning environments and deploying code with minimal friction.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Architect and maintain reproducible environments using Terraform and GitOps workflows.
• Vendor Application Stewardship: Provide stable hosting for critical vendor-provided systems, ensuring uptime and timely maintenance.
