Job summary

Chandra Technologies, Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to automate and improve the build, deploy, and operation of NC FAST applications. You will lead automation of infrastructure provisioning, build and deploy activities, and ensure reliable CI/CD workflows.

The role requires strong Linux, Ansible Tower/AWX, YAML, and Terraform expertise, plus hands-on scripting (Python/Bash) and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes. On-call duties may apply evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience automating Linux OS patches and upgrades with Ansible.
• Hands-on with Git/Bitbucket for source control and collaboration.
• Strong CI/CD experience with build/deploy automation and YAML.
• Proficient in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience with TeamCity and Jenkins pipelines.
• AWS infrastructure knowledge is a plus.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requires the assistance of a Senior Automation engineer to help automate and improve the build, deploy and operation of (NC FAST) Applications.

The primary role is to lead Automation effort of infrastructure provisioning, build and deploy activities for NC FAST applications. This position must demonstrate a solid understanding of AWS infrastructure and software release life cycle.

The role involves creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks, troubleshooting automation issues, ensuring consistent and reliable deployments across environments, and collaborating with DevOps and application teams to enhance CI/CD workflows. Strong knowledge of Linux, Ansible Tower/AWX, YAML, automation best practices, and infrastructure-as-code principles is required. Experience with debugging deployments, validating configurations, and improving release reliability is aplus.

The position will work with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuous integration and Continuous deployment (CI/CD) of application changes. This position will interact with the architects, developers, deployment Team, and Database Administrators to ensure automation of various tasks.This position is required to be on call for evenings and weekends as required to meet business needs.

Required Skills

• Experience with automating Linux OS and software patches and upgrades across multiple environments using automations tools like Ansible
• Hands on Experience (like branching, merging, configuring, and administering) with BitBucket or GIT Source Code Management tool
• Hands on experience in Automating build/deploy process including changes to database using tools like Ansible
• Experience developing automation scripts, operational utilities, and workflow scripts using Python/Bash/Shell
• Experience building and packaging applications with Docker, and managing and scaling containerized workloads using Kubernetes
• Experience in infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and environment management using Terraform and Ansible
• Hands on experience developing and managing CI/CD (DevOps) pipeline using tools like Teamcity, Jenkins, Ansible
