Job summary

St. John’s Community Services in the DMV region seeks a Senior Development Associate who thrives on building relationships and expanding our fundraising presence.

You’ll manage an assigned donor portfolio, cultivate donors, and coordinate stewardship while partnering with leadership on major gifts. You’ll also lead fundraising events from concept through execution, develop Gifts-in-Kind partnerships, engage civic and business communities, and travel regionally for evening and weekend events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–7 years of fundraising, nonprofit development, sales, business development, or relationship management.
• Demonstrated success in donor cultivation or client relationship management.
• Experience planning and executing events.
• Strong public speaking and networking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for community events.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regional travel.

Responsibilities

• Individual Giving & Donor Cultivation: manage a donor portfolio and plan engagement strategies.
• Fundraising Events: plan and execute events from concept to completion.
• Community Engagement & Partnerships: build relationships with civic, corporate, and foundations.
• Gifts-in-Kind Development: pursue in-kind partnerships to reduce program costs.
• Data Management & Reporting: maintain CRM records and report on activity and revenue.
