Job summary

Toolagen Limited is seeking a Senior Backend / Full-stack Engineer to join a global distributed team. You will design and implement secure, scalable backend services with .NET 8+ and REST, while contributing to frontend work using React, TypeScript, and SPFx for SharePoint Online and Teams.

You will leverage Azure Cloud services, Cosmos DB, and Microsoft Fabric, integrate APIs, and maintain automated tests to ensure high-quality software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong English speaking and writing skills.
• Experience in designing distributed systems and end-to-end software lifecycle.
• Backend development with .NET 8+.
• Proven experience with Azure Cloud services (App Service, Functions, Monitor, Entra ID, Key Vault).
• Hands-on experience with cloud databases (Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Fabric).
• Recent experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend practices.
• Solid understanding of automated testing.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to guide technical decisions.
• Experience using AI coding assistant tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).

Responsibilities

• Work in a global distributed team to deliver engineering tasks.
• Participate in sprints and deliver backend/frontend features.

• Develop cloud-native solutions with Azure App Service, Functions, Entra ID, Key Vault, Monitor.
• Contribute to frontend work with React, TypeScript, Fluent UI v9, SPFx for SharePoint Online and Teams.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit/integration/system).
• Collaborate with Technical Architect and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in release and support activities; ensure coding standards and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work efficiently in a global distributed team environment
• Participate in sprints, executing engineering tasks to meet deliverables.
• Utilise Azure DevOps for backlog management, task tracking, and deployment automation.
• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services using .NET 8+, REST, and distributed system patterns
• Implement and optimise data solutions leveraging Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Blob Storage, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Integrate various SDKs and APIs, including Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Teams, and Cognitive Services.
• Experience designing and integrating cloud-native solutions using Azure App Service, Functions, Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and cloud databases.
• Contribute to frontend development using React, TypeScript, Fluent UI v9, and SharePoint Framework (SPFx) for SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams solutions.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, system)
• Work closely with the Technical Architect and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, scalable solutions.
• Participate in release and support activities related to Engineering deliveries
• Ensure software engineering best practices in coding standards, testing, deployment, and overall product quality.

About you:

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong English speaking and writing skills
• Passionate about engineering excellence, best practices, and continuous learning.
• Experience in designing distributed systems, contributing to architectural decisions, and end-to-end software development lifecycle. Strong expertise in backend development using .NET (preferably .NET 8 and above)
• Proven experience with building on and integrating with Azure Cloud services like App Service, Functions, Azure Monitor, Entra ID, Cloud Databases, Azure Key Vault
• Hands-on experience with one or more cloud databases (Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Fabric, etc).
• Recent experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development practices.
• Solid understanding of automated testing.
• Experience in Git, Azure DevOps, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to guide technical decisions.
• Experience using AI coding assistant tools (like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Experience mentoring others or leading technical discussions is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) development.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or similar
• Knowledge of Fluent UI v9, Griffel, and modern CSS-in-JS approaches.
