Job summary

NuAxis seeks a Senior Full Stack Developer to lead the development of a public-facing intake application that captures sensitive submissions and routes them to an enterprise case management platform. You will own end-to-end design, data models, integrations, and security posture for the intake experience.

The role emphasizes Drupal-based architecture, PHP/Twig, and modern JavaScript, with an expectation to mentor teammates and ensure accessibility per federal standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full stack development experience with at least 5 years delivering Drupal end-to-end projects.
• Strong expertise with Webform/module-based public-facing forms and Drupal architecture.
• Proficient in PHP, Twig, and modern JavaScript across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of a public-facing intake application end-to-end, including front-end, forms engine, services, data model, and integrations.
• Build complex, accessible multi-step intake forms with validation, conditional logic, document upload, save-and-resume, and confirmation workflows.
• Design and implement REST API and event-based integrations with enterprise systems and document platforms.
• Implement secure file handling, virus scanning, and metadata tagging for sensitive documents.
• Integrate identity/auth services including federated providers and Login.gov.
• Mentor mid-level developers, conduct code reviews, and drive technical direction.
• Ensure compliance with federal security standards and 508/WCAG 2.1 AA.

Role Summary

Senior engineer leading development of a public-facing intake application that captures sensitive submissions from the public and routes them into an enterprise case management platform. Owns end-to-end design and delivery of the intake experience, its integrations, and its security and accessibility posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of a public-facing intake application end to end — front end, forms engine, services, data model, and integrations.
• Build complex, accessible, multi-step intake forms with validation, conditional logic, document upload, save-and-resume, and confirmation workflows.
• Design and implement integrations to enterprise case management and document management platforms via REST APIs and event streaming.
• Implement secure file upload, virus scanning, metadata tagging, and object storage patterns for sensitive documents.
• Integrate identity and authentication services for public users, including federated identity providers.
• Prefer marketplace and contributed modules over custom code; build custom connectors only where justified.
• Implement observability, structured logging, error handling, and retry semantics across integration points.
• Mentor mid-level developers, lead code reviews, and set technical direction within the workstream.
• Ensure delivery satisfies federal security standards and Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA.
• Deliver Drupal 10+ / MySQL solutions on the DOL PACE platform and integrate with Appian case-management backends, Kafka/event streaming, Login.gov, file scanning/storage, and DOL enterprise services.
• Implement PWS non-functional requirements including responsive/browser compatibility, performance, fault tolerance, audit logging, records retention, security, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Produce and support release artifacts, automated test evidence, security/508 remediation, configuration/change records, and technical documentation required for Government approval.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years full stack development, with 5+ years hands-on Drupal delivering end-to-end platform projects.
• Demonstrated Webform module expertise for complex public-facing forms.
• Strong PHP and Twig plus modern JavaScript; comfort across the full stack including data modeling.
• REST API design and integration with enterprise systems, including error handling and versioning.
• Experience integrating with case management/BPM platforms (Appian or comparable) and document platforms.
• Cloud-native delivery on AWS with containerized deployment (EKS/Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
• Track record delivering solutions compliant with federal security and Section 508 standards.
• Agile/SAFe delivery experience with a team-leading component.
• Substantial experience with AI-assisted programming tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot and other DOL-approved secure AI tools).
• Experience with PACE or comparable Kubernetes/OpenShift container environments and MySQL-backed Drupal applications.
• Experience designing secure, accessible, high-volume public intake workflows with real-time validation, one-time submission, file handling, API/event integrations, and audit trails.

Preferred Qualifications

• Drupal/Acquia certification; Agile/SAFe certification.
• Kafka producer/consumer implementation experience.
• Experience with OCR, document classification, or AI-assisted intake triage.
• Prior federal public-facing application delivery.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
