Job summary

Ruby Labs Ltd in the United States is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to own a cross-platform desktop product from first commit to production. This high-ownership role demands deep systems skills, with an Electron-based UI and native modules in Swift and C++ for macOS and Windows.

You will shape architecture, manage code signing, notarization, entitlements and auto-update, and act as the senior technical voice for desktop within your team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience including production-grade TypeScript/Node.js.
• 3+ years building and shipping Electron applications to real end users.
• Hands-on native macOS development in Swift/Obj-C with AppKit or similar.
• Experience writing native Node addons (N-API) or using out-of-process helpers.
• Experience with macOS signing, notarization, entitlements and the TCC model.
• Knowledge of Win32 APIs, Authenticode signing and SmartScreen considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own the Electron architecture end to end across main, renderer and helpers.
• Design a clean platform abstraction in TypeScript for macOS and Windows.
• Own native integration modules and ensure cross-platform reliability.
• Manage code signing, notarization, entitlements and release pipelines.
• Own crash reporting and production telemetry for the desktop client.
