Job summary

Ropes & Gray LLP is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to manage and support desktop systems and infrastructure in a hybrid Boston environment. You will drive provisioning, security baselines, and software deployment while developing PowerShell scripts to automate endpoint administration.

The role requires 5+ years in desktop engineering, strong knowledge of Windows desktop OS, and experience with Intune and Group Policy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage modern endpoint lifecycle including provisioning, enrollment, compliance, updates, and retirement.
• Configure and support modern endpoint technologies.
• Administer Microsoft 365 applications and endpoint policies.
• Deploy software, security updates, and configuration baselines using cloud and on-premises management platforms.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate endpoint administration and reporting.
• Implement and manage Group Policy, Intune Configuration Profiles, and Security Baselines.
• Monitor endpoint health, compliance, and performance using Microsoft Endpoint Analytics and other reporting tools.
• Troubleshoot complex desktop, application, and endpoint management issues across physical and virtual devices.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and peripherals.
• Provide Tier 3 technical support for workstation, operating system, and endpoint-related incidents.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and enforce desktop security measures and policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to desktop systems, software, and hardware.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in desktop engineering, recommending innovative solutions to improve desktop systems and user experience.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles, for desktop engineering processes and solutions.
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners to evaluate and implement new desktop technologies and solutions.

Overview

The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting desktop systems and infrastructure within the firm. This role requires a strong technical background and expertise in desktop operating systems, software deployment, system administration and advanced troubleshooting. The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

• Boston: $134,700 - $205,450
• New York: $145,800 - $222,350
