$120,000 - $140,000 annually Pay:

Robert Young Architects is a design-forward residential practice based in West Chelsea, known for architecturally ambitious, meticulously crafted work: ground-up houses, apartments, and interiors for clients who care deeply about what gets built. Our projects are primarily in the tri-state area, with a growing national presence. We're a small, serious office where the work gets noticed and the people who do it are known by name.

Senior Designer / Project Manager

We’re looking for a Senior Designer / Project Manager who can own a project, not just run it. Someone with real design ability and the rigor to execute it, who understands that managing a project well is itself a form of design thinking.

About The Ideal Candidate
  • You have a strong design point of view and aspire to create architecture that enhances lives.
  • You understand that excellence lives in the details.
  • You enjoy iterating through as many bad ideas as it takes to get to the one that feels inevitable.
  • You seek responsibility and excel when you have it.
  • You set exacting standards for yourself and inspire them in others.
  • You approach challenges with curiosity and humility.
  • You have a genuine passion for construction and how buildings actually get made.
  • You communicate clearly and can hold a client relationship with confidence.
  • You deliver projects on time and on budget, without sacrificing design quality.
  • You are self-aware about your skillset, and strive to be a well-rounded architect.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in architecture from a US-accredited school.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, consultants, clients, and budgets independently.
  • Licensed or on a clear path to licensure.
  • At least 10+ years of professional experience in a design-focused practice, with recent work in private residential projects at small to medium-sized firms.
  • Specific experience seeing through ground-up, high-end residential projects.
  • Construction Administration experience required.
  • Experience building project staffing budgets and plans.
  • Previous experience leading small teams and mentoring junior staff members.
  • Proficiency in Revit (ideal), AutoCAD (required), Rhino or SketchUp, Enscape, and Adobe Suite. Monograph, Asana, or Smartsheet experience a plus.
  • Must reside in the NYC metro area with valid US work authorization and fluency in English.
What we offer
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with years of experience. Benefits include subsidized health/vision/dental insurance, 401(k) matching up to $4k/year, summer Fridays, generous time off as well as a Winter Break, a 1-day-a-week WFH policy, and a dog-friendly office.
